The Arts Council of Wales is looking to appoint a Director of Arts to join its senior team, with the aspiration to help it achieve its vision of a creative Wales, where the arts are central to the life of the nation.

An independent charity established by Royal Charter in 1994, the Arts Council of Wales is the national public body for funding and developing the arts in Wales.

The Director of Arts is a newly formed role and will be a vital part of the Executive Leadership Team with the ability to inspire, instil ambition, and unlock the talent within the arts sector.

A Welsh speaker, the successful candidate will:

  • Be deeply embedded in the Welsh arts sector, understanding both the opportunities and challenges.
  • Possess operational experience and a strategic mindset to lead a new integrated arts directorate within the organisation.
  • Demonstrate a track record of maintaining relationships within the sector and fostering collaboration with new partners, with the aim of broadening engagement with the arts.
